ESTATE/LEGACY ORGANIZATION

This service includes the planning and organization for the “just-in-case.” You might already have your will, trust, and power of attorney in place. But what about the rest? There are many tasks and decisions your loved ones will need to handle, that are not covered by basic estate planning documents.

If something were to happen to you, would your family know where to find your important documents and information or would they be forced to dig through your file cabinets, mail, bills and computer to find everything they needed? Would they be very clear about your wishes, or would they be scrambling to make decisions during a time of immense grief and stress?  Do you desire to guide the people you love at the time they will need it the most?

At Age with Intention, we believe this is the ultimate gift for yourself and your family. If you are like most people, you haven’t given this much thought, you don’t want to think about it, or you have no idea where to start. No matter the reason, we are here to assist you in this important and thoughtful process. The process is not difficult, but it can be time consuming. We have found it helpful to break the task up into manageable sections and take it one step at a time. There are 2 options available.

Option 1-

This option includes the binder and legacy book delivered or shipped to your home for self completion:

  • Binder organization with 30+ sleeves for storage of all important documents (including sections for digital, legal, property, insurance, financial, bills, end of life planning, letters, keys and much more).

  • Legacy book for guidance on completing a legacy letter or ethical will for your loved ones.

Option 2-

This option is for the individual who knows the project will not get completed without accountability. This service will include everything in Option 1 plus:

  • Review of current estate and important documents

  • Referrals to professionals, as needed, to complete any missing documents.

  • 1 on-site (or virtual) organization visit to assist in sorting and reviewing each section in more detail.

Additional visits available if needed.

No matter which option you choose, our goal is the same: for you to have a completed binder that addresses the concerns of you and your surviving family. Let us know how we can serve you best. Virtual option available.

DOWNSIZE AND DECLUTTER

Being part of a military family meant moving every 1-4 years.  It became part of our DNA to purge, declutter and organize.

We want to assist you in creating an organized and safe environment in your existing home.  We believe you should be surrounded by all the things you love and enjoy without all the excess.  It is empowering to make your own decisions about your belongings, providing both peace of mind and removing a future burden from your family.

Ways we can help:

  • Declutter and remove donation items for clients

  • Clean out that attic, closet, or other areas of your home that have accumulated years of belongings

  • Relocate and organize household items to support safe and functional living.  (This can also be paired with an environmental/home assessment by Shana)

  • Organize items that you want to gift to family or friends

MOBILITY SCREENING

With advancements in medicine, it is no surprise that we as a population are living longer. As we age, there are changes in our strength, balance, flexibility, and vision that can become cumulative over time. This may result in changing how you complete daily activities, engage in the community, and move around your home. It may additionally affect the risk of falls.

While the effects of aging cannot be prevented, we desire to identify potential impairments that may affect the quality of your life through preventative screenings and environmental assessments. By addressing the factors that can contribute to falls or functional decline, we hope to correct or address an issue before it becomes a problem.  We desire to “step in early” and assess and identify these impairments and address them while one is still healthy and active. By doing so, we hope to empower active, aging adults to be safe and healthy in their homes and communities for many years to come.

The process begins with an initial screening that will encompass multiple assessment measures to look at the following:

  • Strength

  • Sensation

  • Flexibility

  • Balance

  • Gait

  • Vision and urinary concerns

  • Medical equipment and footwear

  • Medication review

  • Safety, Fall Prevention, and Fall Recovery

A follow-up visit will be completed to provide a full review of the findings. This will include education in potential strength/balance deficits, fall risk, and the “what to do next”. We will discuss recommendations for home programs, community programs if needed, and/or other referrals (outpatient therapy) based on the assessment.

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

When assessing one’s environment, it is important to consider individual needs, habits, and daily activities. Considering the rising costs of long-term care, often simple and inexpensive modifications can be an important step in fall prevention and allowing someone to remain in their home as they age. Minor modifications such as adding proper lighting, grab bars, removing rugs, or obtaining a piece of equipment can provide peace of mind and improved safety. Our Certified Aging in Place specialist can make recommendations for short and potential long-term needs. Assessments include a review of the following:

  • Lighting

  • Steps/rails/grab bars

  • Rugs

  • Bathroom safety and equipment

  • Safety and evacuation in emergencies (tornado/fire)

  • Doorways, entries, and exits

  • Accessibility to trash, mail, pets, garage

  • Medication storage and disposal

  • Fire safety/oxygen/alarms

  • Temporary pre- or post-surgical set-up recommendations based on expected precautions if applicable

Recommendations will be provided based on the findings.
